Here is a brief list of what you can expect with a consultation from West Coast Ayurveda:
A consultation generally lasts about one hour to 90 minutes depending on an individuals personal concerns. It will include a detailed assessment of ones ayurvedic body constitution (Prakriti) . Once that has been established we will discuss any issues you may be having. Generally people will inquire about lack of sleep, agitation, weight loss, anxiety, constipation, bloating, lack of focus, and of course the big one stress.
Dietary recommendations based on your body type: In the west it is common to count calories when and go on diets in order to lose weight. There is a common saying “You are what you eat” understandably if you eat a lot of greasy fried foods that are heavy. It will inevitably gain weight and incur certain problems like obesity and the risks that are associated with it. But at the same time people may come to me eating what is considered to be a healthy diet and still having problems with digestion, or nervousness or many other considerations. Keep in mind overdoing things is never a good thing too. What is important in Ayurveda is not so much what you eat but eating in accordance to the body type that you possess. In Ayurveda it’s not “You are what you eat” but “ You are what you digest.” A simple change in our diet can work wonders for our health and wellness.
Meditation and relaxation techniques
In this busy life we often find ourselves running from one task to another. Some have demanding jobs, others demanding children or partners, deadlines, commitments. These situations often lead us to stressful situations. Whatever the case may be we rarely take time to relax and simply breathe. I will teach you meditation techniques that will enable you to calm your senses and alleviate the stress of everyday life.

Nowadays we see yoga studios everywhere and there are many types of yoga that one can learn. But remember to always do yoga that is right for your body type. Many of the asanas (poses) are very beneficial for many ailments. A few examples of ailments which would fin relief from certain yoga poses are:
Spinal tension, anxiety and nervousness disorders, muscular strain, sciatica, high blood pressure, carpal tunnel syndrome, diabetes, lower back pain
